Vinyl Therapy

Vinyl Therapy is a monthly listening salon and open house. It's inspired by my own life-changing work with music therapy and a desire to build community around Seattle-area artists and creatives that enjoy and appreciate good music.

Format

Show up when as you can and as you are. Bring a song or two that's hitting — new or old, mainstream or obscure — and an openness to share what it means to you. Or don't — just show up to listen and maybe discuss.

Disclaimer

Is this therapy? I'm not a licensed music therapist, and this does not intend to replace real individual or group therapy work. But it is a judgement-free, zero-agenda experiment that may just help us all feel a little more human.

Why Vinyl?

Vinyl represents connecting with past generations, taking a break from screens and phones, and connecting with our humanity. It's also a preferred listening experience for many (myself included) but that's not the point. Ultimately, the point here is Analogue with a capital "A" — appreciation not just for the musical and lyrical choices, but the meaning we make around them. If the song that means the most to you is on Spotify, we can listen to it on Spotify. I'm your spirit guide, not the music police.

Listening Experience

Remember how I said this is a judgement-free zone? That includes my setup. My speakers are...fine. Audiophiles will hate. But let's be real — there are already so many other great sonically-driven listening experiences in Seattle where you don't talk. That's cool — and that's not this.
